Well the holidays are upon us. With all the fun and busyness of the season, I find it particularly important to remind myself of ways to manage my days so that stress doesn't take over from the joy of the season.

Here are a few things I am putting into practice this holiday season:

1) Exercise: Making time to move keeps my adrenaline from getting the best of me. Although there are times that  I can barely walk or lift things after my exercise I know it brings great benefit to my stress level and also I have remind myself to do my deep breathing exercises.

2) Spending time with my grand-dog (Palmer): Pets are amazing companions and although my daughter and Palmer don't live with us, I have the pleasure of caring for him  on a regular basis. I find having him here really helps me take those much needed breaks to walk or play with him. And of course, he always brings a smile to my face.

 3) Talking to or spending time with my husband, daughters, friends and particularly my sisters and brothers: Staying connected during this special season causes me to recall special memories and traditions that warm my heart. This causes me to remember this season may take some extra work, but the payoff is the special memories we can embrace in the future.

4) Eating right: When my body is not getting what it needs, it can be very hard to manage the busyness of the season. Better food = more energy !!

5) Sleeping well: This one can be difficult for me at the best of times, so it is particularly hard when I am under pressure. Finding ways to ensure I get a good night’s sleep is critical to reducing stress during the Christmas season or any other time of the year.

6) Getting a good massage or pedicure: A little self-care always goes a long way for me! This is at the TOP of my list for treats - even better than chocolate!

So how about you? What are ways you manage the busyness of the season and the stress it can bring about?
